Editorial policy and pricing methodology
Every guide on this site is published under one byline, OneTap Black Editorial. This page explains who that is, how a guide gets made, where the numbers come from and how mistakes get fixed.
Who writes the guides
OneTap Black Editorial is the team at OneTap Black. We do not publish under invented names or personal profiles. If a guide is written by a named person in the future, their name and role will be on the guide.
OneTap Black is a booking agent. Rentals are provided and fulfilled by independent, vetted operators. We earn a commission from the operator on completed bookings. Operators cannot pay for a guide, a mention or a better position, and we do not publish sponsored articles.
How a guide is made
- We read primary sources: operators' own public pages, event organizers, the Florida Statutes and Coast Guard guidance. Nobody is contacted or mystery-shopped for a price survey.
- An AI assistant helps draft the text from those notes. We say so because readers should know.
- A person on our team checks every number, date and claim against its source before the guide goes live. Anything we cannot confirm is left out or described as a claim by whoever made it.
- Each guide shows the date it was published and the date it last changed. The updated date moves only when the content changes in a way that matters to a reader.
We do not give legal, tax or insurance advice, and we do not sell or recommend insurance products. Where a guide touches on those subjects it points to the rule or the source and tells you to confirm with the operator or a professional.
Pricing methodology
Price tables in our guides are market prices, not our own price list. Prices for our own listings are on the listings, with every mandatory fee itemized.
- Date read. Every table says when the prices were read. Operators change prices daily and by date, and event weeks cost more.
- Source. The operator's own public page. Marketplaces and aggregators are used for context only. Prices that appear only in old search snippets, members-only rates and pages that would not load are excluded.
- What counts as a one-day price. A price stated for one day, or a plain per-day rate with no minimum. We leave out weekly totals divided by seven, "starting at" prices that depend on a multi-day booking, two-day minimums and peer-to-peer three-day averages. They are different products and would drag the numbers in either direction.
- Comparable means the same car. Same model and trim, and a recent model year when the page shows one. A coupe is not counted as a convertible unless the row says so.
- One price per operator per model. The lowest comparable one-day price that operator lists, so an operator with ten units does not outweigh one with a single car.
- Low, median and high. The median is the middle price. We show it only when at least six operators list the model, and we show the number of operators in every row.
- Base price, not total. Tables show the base rate before tax and fees. Where a guide works out an all-in example, it lists each line and says it is an example, not a quote.
- Refresh. Tables are re-read about once a month and again around major event weeks. The date on the table changes only when it has been re-read.
Change log
- : first edition. 14 popular cars, more than 20 operators in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach.
Corrections
If a number or a fact is wrong, tell us. or use the trip planner and say which guide and which line. We check it against the source, fix it and change the updated date on that guide. A correction that matters to a reader is noted on the guide itself.
