Art Basel Miami Beach runs Friday December 4 to Sunday December 6, 2026 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, inside Miami Art Week (November 30 to December 6). You need three decisions: whether to rent a car at all, whether a boat adds anything, and when to book. This guide gives the dates, what rentals cost that week, and the valet and parking reality.
Dates and prices checked on November 6, 2026. Check each fair's own site before you travel.
Art Basel 2026 dates and venue
Art Basel Miami Beach takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive. Public days are Friday December 4 to Sunday December 6, from 11 am to 6 pm. The VIP preview on December 2 and 3 is by invitation only. Miami Art Week, the wider run of satellite fairs, parties and gallery openings, goes from November 30 to December 6.
The organizers list 272 exhibitors from more than 40 countries this year. Most visitors spend a day or two at the main fair and the rest of the week moving between satellite fairs in Wynwood, the Design District, Miami Beach and downtown, which is where the transport question comes from.
Where the other fairs are
Most of Art Week happens outside the Convention Center. These are the fairs that matter for planning a route, with the dates and addresses we found. They are not ours to guarantee, so check each fair’s own site before you commit to a schedule.
| Fair | Dates | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Untitled Art | Dec 2 to 6 | Ocean Drive and 12th Street, Miami Beach |
| NADA Miami | Dec 1 to 5 | Ice Palace Studios, 1400 N Miami Avenue |
| Design Miami | Dec 1 to 6 | Convention Center Drive and 19th Street |
| Art Miami and CONTEXT | Dec 1 to 6 | One Herald Plaza, downtown |
| SCOPE | Dec 1 to 6 | 801 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach |
| Aqua Art Miami | Dec 2 to 6 | Miami Beach |
The shape of the week matters more than the list. Miami Beach holds the main fair, Design Miami, Untitled and SCOPE, and they are a short hop apart. Wynwood and the Design District are on the mainland, about 15 to 25 minutes away without traffic, and a lot more with it.
Do you need a car in Art Week?
Honestly, not always. If you are staying on Miami Beach near the Convention Center and you only want the main fair, you can skip the car. Miami Beach runs free city trolley loops, there are fair shuttles and water taxis in some years, and Brightline stops at MiamiCentral downtown. The free options are worth checking first.
A car makes sense in three cases:
- You are moving between the Beach and the mainland. Wynwood, the Design District and downtown are on the other side of the bay. Doing three of them in a day by ride-hail at fair closing time gets slow and expensive.
- You are hosting. Clients, a dinner reservation at a fixed time, an airport pickup on a schedule. Arriving in a Cullinan or a Urus is part of the point, and a driver who is not waiting on an app is the other part.
- You want one thing you control. A car that is parked where you left it, with your bags and shoes for the evening in the trunk, is worth something to many people that week.
If you want only art, skip the rental. If you want to move through the week on your own timeline, rent a car with a clear plan for where it sleeps at night.
What exotic rentals cost in Art Week
Start from an ordinary day, then add the Art Week effect. On November 6, 2026, one-day market prices for the cars people ask about most were:
| Car | Ordinary-day range | Median |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes-AMG G63 | $500 to $899 | $725 |
| Lamborghini Urus Performante | $950 to $1,295 | $1,165 |
| Rolls-Royce Cullinan | $799 to $1,899 | $1,395 |
Method and the rest of the table are in the exotic car rental cost guide. Those are ordinary-day prices, read before the event. Art Week prices are higher and we do not have a measured figure, only operator claims. One operator’s guide reports premiums of 40% to 80% over normal rates and two to three day minimums. Another sells four-day Basel packages from $6,500 to $18,000, depending on the car. Treat both as direction, not data.
What this means in practice: if a quote for a Basel weekend looks 50% above the ordinary-day price and includes a three-day minimum, that is in line with what operators describe. A quote far above that deserves a question about what is included. Ask for the total with every fee itemized, the deposit on its own line, and how many miles are included.
Which cars actually work
Art Week is a parking and valet week, so the car has to fit the places you will put it.
SUVs and sedans are the easy choice. A Urus, a Cullinan, a G63 or a Ghost clears garage ramps without drama, seats four or five, and has space for luggage and a change of clothes. They also look right pulling up to a hotel or a gallery, which is most of what a car does that week.
Low supercars need more thought. Operators warn that a lowered McLaren or a Lamborghini can scrape on steep garage ramps in the Design District and some retail buildings. If you want a supercar, say so when you book, ask whether the car has a front-axle lift, and plan to valet at places you have checked.
Valet is part of the budget. Operators report $20 to $40 a night at retail buildings, and event valet near the Convention Center and Art Miami around $30 to $35. Garage rates vary, and the Convention Center has its own flat event fee. Wynwood has a reputation for towing from private lots, so read the signs, and do not leave a $300,000 car in a lot you cannot identify the owner of.
Yachts during Art Week
A yacht is not a way to reach the fair. The Convention Center is not on the water, and the fair is a daytime event. A yacht adds something different: a place to host in the evening, with the skyline for a backdrop, away from the traffic.
Pricing in Miami for a crewed charter with a captain, on an ordinary day: a 40 to 50 ft yacht for four hours runs about $1,700 to $3,000, and 50 to 70 ft about $2,000 to $5,000, before fuel, gratuity of 15% to 20% and tax where it applies. Art Week demand pushes this up and shortens availability, so treat those figures as a floor.
One rule matters more than the price. A charter with up to six paying passengers can run on an uninspected vessel with a licensed captain. More than six paying passengers requires a boat with a current Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection, and the certificate’s passenger limit is a hard cap. Every yacht we list is crewed, and we check the captain’s license and the vessel’s paperwork before it goes live. If you are comparing other offers, ask to see the certificate.
Villas
Licensed villas are available on request. Tell the concierge your dates, group size and area, and we will check what is available and legal for your stay.
When to book
The popular models for Art Week book months ahead. One operator advises 4 to 6 months, and another suggests reserving by October 1 for the most in-demand cars. With Art Week about four weeks away, availability is limited, and the options that remain are the ones with some flexibility.
What helps:
- Be flexible on the model. A G63 or a Cullinan is easier to find than a specific color of a Urus.
- Start on a weekday. Pickup on Wednesday or Thursday, not Friday morning, is easier to place and often cheaper.
- Decide on delivery. A car delivered to your hotel saves a trip to the operator and the parking question.
- Ask for the deposit and release date early. Holds on cards in the $2,500 to $10,000 range need to clear your limit before you arrive.
Send your dates and we will check which operators have availability. We will reply with the total and what is included. We are an independent booking agent. The operator is the rental company and you pay the operator.
Checklist before you pay
Whatever you book, get these in writing:
- The all-in price for your exact dates, with each fee as a line.
- The deposit amount and the day it is released.
- Miles included per day and the price of extra miles.
- Delivery windows and the delivery address.
- The cancellation and change terms, including a weather or event change.
- Tolls: how the operator bills them.
- What insurance the operator requires and what you must show at pickup.
- The name of the rental company, not just the brand on the website.
Questions
What are the Art Basel Miami Beach 2026 dates?
Public days are Friday December 4 to Sunday December 6, 2026, from 11 am to 6 pm, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The VIP preview on December 2 and 3 is by invitation. Miami Art Week runs from November 30 to December 6.
Can I rent a Lamborghini at 21?
Most operators require a driver who is 25 or older. A few accept 21 and up on selected cars, usually with a higher deposit or fee. The age requirement is on each listing.
How much is the deposit?
It depends on the car and the operator. Published ranges run from $500 to $7,000 or more, and on our listings from $2,500 for a G63 to $10,000 for a Ferrari or McLaren. The deposit is refundable and is shown separately from the total.
Is there parking at the Convention Center?
The venue has a garage with an event fee, and there is valet near the lobby, both reported by vendor guides. Rates and availability change during the fair, so check with the venue before you go.
Can I take a boat to the fair?
Not directly. The Convention Center is not on the water. A yacht works as a place to host or to see the skyline, and the marinas on the Beach side are a short drive from the fair.
Will ride-hail prices surge?
Ride-hail prices rise with demand, and fair closing time is a predictable peak. We do not have measured prices for Art Week, which is one reason people rent a car for a day or two instead.
